Privacy Policy
At CATerm, privacy and data sovereignty are fundamental architectural design principles, not optional marketing features. This policy outlines in plain language how we handle your data, our zero-telemetry architecture for the desktop application, what minimal web data is collected, and your legal rights under GDPR and UU PDP.
01. Desktop Application: Zero Telemetry & 100% Local Vault
CATerm desktop application is strictly engineered around a Zero Telemetry guarantee:
- Zero Tracking & Analytics: The desktop app contains no analytics SDKs, behavioral trackers, background telemetry, or silent phone-home mechanisms.
- Vault Contents Never Leave Your Device: All SSH private keys, saved credentials, server configurations, connection tags, terminal command histories, and incident dossiers are encrypted locally using SQLCipher (AES-256) and Argon2id derivation. They remain exclusively on your local workstation and are never transmitted to Fathforce or any third-party servers.
- User-Initiated Network Connections: The application initiates network connections solely for your direct operational tasks (e.g., establishing your SSH/SFTP connections, downloading software updates via GitHub Releases/GCC when checked, or activating a Pro license).
02. Web & Online Services: Data We Collect
When you interact with our website (caterm.fathforce.com) or use online Pro services, we only collect the minimal data necessary to provide and maintain those services:
1. Newsletter Subscription (Optional)
If you voluntarily subscribe to our release notifications and changelogs, we store your email address and optional name. You can unsubscribe at any time with a single click via the link in any email.
2. Voluntary Feedback & Testimonials (Optional)
When you submit product reviews or feedback via the website, we collect your submitted name, profession, company, rating, and feedback comments. Public testimonials are published only with explicit consent.
3. Pro License & Device Activation Data
When activating a CATerm Pro license, the client transmits an anonymized hardware identifier (HWID) hash along with your license key to verify seat quotas. License verification uses Ed25519 cryptographic signatures and never transmits connection data, server hosts, or private files.
4. Payment Processing via Lemon Squeezy
Payments for CATerm Pro licenses and subscriptions are processed by Lemon Squeezy as the Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy securely manages billing details, VAT/tax compliance, and invoicing. Neither CATerm nor Fathforce stores or has access to your payment card details or banking credentials.
5. Anonymous Website Analytics (Umami)
This website counts page views and clicks on download, pricing, and outbound links (for example, which platform's download button was used) with Umami, an open-source analytics tool we self-host; its requests go through this site under /stats. Umami sets no cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and does not store your IP address: the address is used only in passing to derive an approximate country and city and an anonymized visitor count. The desktop application contains no analytics of any kind.
03. Your Rights under GDPR & UU PDP (Indonesian Data Protection)
Whether you reside in the European Union (governed by GDPR) or Indonesia (governed by Undang-Undang Perlindungan Data Pribadi / UU No. 27 Tahun 2022 - UU PDP), you retain full sovereignty over your personal data:
- Right to Access & Portability: You may request a copy of any personal data associated with your license or email subscription.
- Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can request complete deletion of your newsletter subscription, feedback records, or license activation history from our servers.
- Right to Opt-Out & Rectification: You can update inaccurate data or withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- Local Data Erasure: Because all desktop application credentials and vaults reside locally, uninstalling the desktop app and deleting its local data directory completely and permanently destroys all local records with zero server residual.
04. Data Security & Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal data to any advertisers, data brokers, or external third parties. Data is shared exclusively with infrastructure providers strictly necessary to deliver the service (e.g., Lemon Squeezy for payments, Cloudflare for edge routing, our self-hosted GCC backend, and our self-hosted Umami analytics).
